Aldgate Residence
The renovation of this original 1970’s Aldgate residence starts at the entry hall with the low ceiling giving way to the vast raking timber ceiling in the lounge. The house sits high above a creek with sweeping views of the landscape beyond. The refurbishment of the timber ceiling brought new life into the space and keeping original finishes such as the exposed red brick walls and brick clad fireplace, gives the house its warm and inviting character.
From the hall you move into the new addition with the kitchen, dining and living space that overlooks a stunning pool and garden. The large open plan area is complemented by high level windows to bring light in at all times of the day. A sleek Matt Black and ‘Wormy Chestnut’ timber kitchen, sitting on polished concrete floors is enhanced by Japanese green mosaic tiles used under the island and a small feature splashback.
The white linear brick fireplace echos the houses 1970’s style, and this tribute flows through to bathrooms where small mosaic tiles and terrazzo finishes, keep the house true to its original roots.
