Erindale Residence
The Stanley St Residence is a new build for a large family with older children. The architects used robust materials of elongated bagged brick, steel and vertical timber claddings to highlight the scale and rounded forms.
After entering the house, 3 bedrooms, ensuites and childrens retreat are accessed upstairs via the beautifully curved staircase. The wide hallway directs you to the living spaces on the ground floor, which opens up to views of the garden with a large master wing to one end.
The interiors of the house wrap around a central pool that creates stunning views from all living areas and the undercover terrace.
With the external materials seamlessly continuing into the interior, the spaces were left relatively simple to let the grand scale of the architecture be the hero. Warmth and texture were brought in with thick rugs, tactile fabrics and large comfortable furniture choices.
The house’s bathrooms and wet areas were an opportunity to introduce a new palette of marble tiles, aged brass fixtures and feature light fittings. Subtle detailing of arched mirrors, oval sinks and rounded light fittings continue the fun use of curves throughout the house.
