Stirling Residence
These clients bought a new house that was a little tired and dated but of main concern was the ineffective use of space. They engaged Marie-Clare to redesign the kitchen, dining and laundry, but whilst doing so it became apparent that a far more functional layout for the whole house was required, to bring natural light in and make better use of the spaces. Marie-Clare came up with a plan that redesigned the ground floor, taking out a few key walls to open up the house from one side to the other creating connection to the beautiful alfresco and pool area outside. The kitchen was of central importance as the clients are keen entertainers, so a butlers pantry was installed behind the open plan kitchen, and the client chose an amazing olive green Smeg oven as a key feature. The volumous space with its raking ceiling still has a warmth and inviting feeling through the use of natural stone, timbers and the freestanding combustion fire.
